WHAT WE DO The Office of Communications coordinates communication between the bishop, his staff, and the outside media. The office issues media releases and formal statements related to timely messages and announcements from the diocese and responds to media requests or inquiries. The office has direct input and oversight with the creation of broadcast, video, audio, and social media content.

This office also obtains and schedules Catholic programming for viewing on public access television stations in ten parish communities in the diocese.

THE PRAIRIE CATHOLIC The Office of Communications produces The Prairie Catholic, the official publication of the diocese. The paper is mailed free of charge seven times a year (every six weeks, Sept. – June) to over 21,000 registered Catholic households throughout the Diocese of New Ulm. This award-winning communication vehicle, in both print and online, shares in the mission of proclaiming Christ’s saving message by providing news, information, and education. Its focus is on the bishop’s priorities of evangelization, Catholic education, marriage and life issues, social concerns, catechesis, timely Catholic news, and diocesan and parish information. The newspaper is funded in-part by donations to the annual United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Catholic Communications Campaign held annually in May.
